Motivational Tactics for Strategy Execution

Provide a sampling of motivational tactics employed by several prominent companies. Choose three companies from the list to research and discuss how rewards aid in the strategy execution efforts of each company.

SAS Software developer -  For SAS, a big reward for their employees to be happy and be productive is the 401K benefits of the company.  Lots of other employers offer a 401k Program, but only after 1 year of working there, but SAS offers the program to employees that complete the 90-day probationary period of work.  This is a plus for many who are trying to save for their future.  Which makes the employees feel that they are valuable to the company.  For SAS to continue to be successful, the upper management levels should be held to the same standards of the workers on the ground floor.  This will ensure that the work climate is the best it can be, and the employees are doing the best that they can do to complete their given tasks.  They value people as their most important asset, and with being said Mr. Goodnight has taken a personal interest in every aspect of his employee’s well-being. SAS employees, and their families, have free access to a massive gymnasium including both a tennis and basketball court.  The weight rooms, which is comparable to a high-end fitness center, and a heated pool. The facilities also include an on-site health care clinic, staffed by physicians, nutritionists, physical therapists, and psychologists and this is also entirely free to employees and their families.

The company is also part of the community by volunteering and making it worth the wild of the employees by giving them 7 days off per year to volunteer at their favorite charity or cause with pay.  They also match charitable non profit donations up to 5K per year.  These perks make it a very successful company to work for and the business climate at Salesforce is above average.

DPR Construction  The biggest draw for DPR Construction is their involvement in the community.  Beyond building buildings, DPR offers their expertise in organizational leadership, project planning, soft-skills training, marketing and other professional areas.  They offer internships to students from local colleges in an effort to recruit the brightest young engineers in construction for part-time as well as full time positions within the company.  The DPR foundation itself has made contributions of over 5 million dollars to community organizations like the Boys and Girls clubs, various mentorship programs and schools in the areas where their regional offices are located.  Being part of the community is a vital part of their mission and vision plan and their company Ideology.
