The Hershey Company started out its company with
assembly processing but with technology and the demand for the chocolate it
soon grew and began to use process manufacturing. The process for making
chocolate is a little lengthy and therefore assembly would take too much time. I
found a website called http://www.thehersheycompany.com where it gives a description
of making chocolate and has picture of some of the large machinery and molds
that make the delicious chocolate. The chocolate making process is a continuous
process because of the demand for it. The company also has companies in many
other countries and choses its locations by long term growth potential. What it
exports to other countries depends highly on which products of Hershey the
people are looking to purchase. If this is a country with a great desire for
the chocolate than the company searches for another company to merge with and
therefore have its foot in another door for a manufacturing company in that
country.
