In the process of recruiting at the diner I think the best option would be contacting the school career service center at a local university or college for assistance. The reason why I say that is the customer service would be great due to the relationship the staff has with their students and having a university with many different ethical backgrounds will definitely make it easier to choose the right candidate. There is no charge to the employer, which is another benefit. Why I say benefit is because both the student in search of employment and the recruiter win, so that’s a very big plus. Another reason for example is at the University of Miami is on a semester system, which allows three recruiting periods that are both five months long. So right there that tells me that the diner’s ad can possibly be posted up to almost a year. And last but not least the screening process. The school will give you two screening options, the first one will be Pre-screened/Closed, which the school staff pre-screens candidates and forwards the most eligible to the owner of the diner; From there the owner overlooks the resumes and makes the final choice of who the new kitchen manager will be. Versus the second pre-screening option, which is Open, meaning the eligible students will be able to sign up for a chance at an interview on a first-come, first-served basis. And the last is called Half Closed/ Half Open, and the purpose of this type of pre-screening is a hybrid of the first two options, this way allows you to go over the résumés of qualified candidates and select seven students whom you want to interview. And the open portion offers six interview slots for qualified candidates who sign up on a first-come, first-served basis. And best of all the University will arrange all the interview times.
When owning a very busy
small business it is very important to benefit from everything that you do.
With that being said this is why going with a school career service center
would be very beneficial, at no cost, and you will find someone within the
field that is ready to work.
