Theories pertaining to
information management, when implemented properly, can improve performance,
increase value creation, and spell business success for entrepreneurs. Theories
such as: Lazarus Appraisal Theory of Emotions, Bandura’s Social Cognitive
Theory, Meischkes’ Comprehensive Model of Information Seeking, Brabrow’s
Problematic Integration Theory, and the Theory of Motivated Information
Management each have their respective rights in the general business philosophy
and are in some regards responsible for information management success.
Identify information management skills that are
critical for entrepreneurs to develop.
The apropos managerial
composite of technological, conceptual, social, and marketplace skills are
critical for synthesized entrepreneurs to develop. The technological skills
required for successful information management (IM) integrates the knowledge
and applicability of specific tools, software, hardware, database management,
and operating systems. Conceptual skills such as proper preparation,
assessment, judgement, and decision-making based on the productivity and
results of the organization and oneself. This includes applying specific
methodologies, and implementing strategic and calculated systems planning.
Social skills including interviewing, influencing, leading, in addition to
professional networking strategies, have a synergistic effect upon developing
lasting network relations. Finally marketplace and conceptual skills such as business
intelligence, general business and financial skills, specialized business
skills, along with diplomatic negotiation, contract, and appraisal skills are
essential proficiency requirements for successful entrepreneurs in the 21st
century (Heckman, 1998).

The objectiveness to
perceive competition as the , “unequal distribution of information and the
differing abilities to acquire, absorb, and act” on said information marks
the delineating characteristics of a successful entrepreneur in the 21st
century (Choo, 2002). If information acquisition is the connection between
career competence, experiential learning, and successful entrepreneurship than
the ability to accrue such information is the determining component for
entrepreneurial success (ibid).

are critical for entrepreneurs to develop.
Behaviors outline the
broad skill requirements, values, and integrated competencies which drive an
organization's information direction and consequently, its success.
Complementary behaviors aid to rapidly propagate information processing
technologies and include environmental scanning and information management adaptivity
(Choo, 2002). Entrepreneurs utilize knowledge, skills, and abilities
obtained through experiential learning , developing career competencies,and
student internships to propel their organization toward success in the 21st
century.
